Another good one from director Nick Cassavettes (The Notebook, Alpha Dog). Great performance from Sofia Vassilieva. I have never seen her in anything before this. Brings up some interesting issues concerning what lengths parents can legally do to help one child while endangering another. Abigail Breslin is growing up to be a fine actress as well. And Alec Baldwin is, well Alec Baldwin. He's always good if he's in one scene or in twenty. I would have liked to have seen a resolving scene with Abigail's character and Cameron's character. If you see it you'll know what I mean. I'm sure it happened within the context of the movie but it would have been nice to see. It would have been a powerful scene. For me these kinds of movies are great to watch once but usually I don't watch them again. I would recommend that you do watch this at least once. You will see some great performances. And isn't that what we all want to see in any movie?
