Brendan Fraser gets crapped on by critics all the time. I'm sure it was refreshing for him to take this kind of role on instead of the lovable lunkhead he usually plays (i mean that in a good way, hey I like the guy). I just don't know if he really pulled it off that well. Sometimes I didn't see as much as I would have liked in some of the more serious scenes where you are trying to believe in this man fighting for his kids. I'm not so sure about his range. I would still give him a chance in another serious role however for final judgement. He can always go back to doing the roles that got him where he is today. Hey not everybody can do what more serious actors bring to the screen. On the other hand some actors can't be a likable everyday man like Brendan can. I've always liked the guy ever since Encino Man & School Ties. There's nothing to be ashamed of for doing roles like the Mummy movies. Harrison Ford did a credible job as he usually does. Always a little on the wooden side of acting unless he's wearing his Indy gear. I would recommend watching it once. I just don't know if it's something you should buy.
