A middle of the road movie in my opinion. To me the story was just not there and I wasn't really that impressed with Noah Ringer as the title character. It seemed that with his dilemma I didn't feel what should have been conveyed, that here's a boy with a tremendous responsibility (as you are reminded of quite a lot, hell, the story's world is basically up to this boy's abilities and decisions more or less). The effects looked alright I suppose but did nothing to convey a mood for the movie. The best thing I could say about the movie is a subplot about a son of a king who is banished from his home world and the boy wants to go back and rule in his home land. Played very well by Dev Patal as Prince Zuko this was for me by far the most interesting storyline in the movie. Another M. Night Shyamalan film that didn't do too well at the box office. For rental only.
