The Burning Plain-Film Review

Charlize Theron plays a restaurant manager named Sylvia in Oregon who we soon learn doesn't love herself or anybody else. She fills her nights with one night stands and physically scars herself. There is a man following her around lately that she is unaware of. When he finally confronts her with what he came to tell her we start to see the answers of who she is and where she came from. The film shows her life now and when she was a teenager. It cuts back and forth with no warning but viewers can easily figure out things by just paying attention. This is basically Charlize's film. I noticed she was even an executive producer on it so she probably put some of her own money in it. She puts in another strong performance as well as Jennifer Lawrence as the young Sylvia. I have never seen her in anything before but she impressed with her role here. I checked in IMDB and it looks like she's going to play Mystique in the new X-Men movie coming out in 2011. If you like good character dramas then check this one out. Recommended.
